Interested in becoming a trustee?
DIAL is looking for people to become members of its management committee (trustees).
A trustee is responsible for DIAL. Together, trustees make decisions about the running of the organisation.
Trustees need to be able to come to as many of the committee meetings as possible.
At the meetings, trustees talk about what DIAL does now, and what it may do in the future. They plan future events and discuss funding. Together with the Project Coordinator, they make decisions about the organisation and how it is run. They work with the Project Coordinator to sort out any personnel issues, or other matters.
There is paperwork connected to the meetings which trustees need to read.
There are usually six committee meetings a year, one about every two months.
Trustees also need to be able to come to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) if possible, held once a year in September.
All the meetings are held in the local area. They are held on various different days of the week, and at various times to suit. There are no weekend meetings.
A trustee can be anyone over 18, male or female, disabled or able bodied. Experience or expertise in disability issues, business, finance, legal or management would be an advantage however we would like to hear from anyone with skills which could enhance the current board.
It doesn’t matter whereabouts in the Great Yarmouth area trustees live, DIAL is keen that people from all over the Borough are trustees.
Trustees are not paid, but DIAL can pay some travel costs.
