Dont forget that Norfolk County Council have an exciting new programme starting in September for people aged 19+ with learning disabilities. The course involves cooking, learning how to live healthy on a budget, confidence building, gentle exercise, wellbeing, art and much more. We have an enrolment day taking place on the 5th July at two venues in Great Yarmouth (see attached). The course is being offered across Norfolk so if you would like more information please see the attached ILS Road Shows leaflet or you can contact Rachel Dunn on 07450 717150 or a member of the team.
James our Community Sports Development Worker is in the office two days a week working on the Get Set DIAL project.
Get Set DIAL is an exciting project which aims to improve the lives of working age adults in Great Yarmouth through sport and physical activity. If you're looking to increase your activity levels James may be able to signpost you to clubs and people in the area who can help.
Alternatively if you would like to start your own activity, perhaps that dance class you've always wanted to setup or a walking group among your friends, there are funding opportunities available to gain a coaching or sports-related qualification and get your activity up and running.
If you wish to speak with James please call the office on 01493 856900 and your details will be passed onto him if he is unavailable at that time.
Our Living Well Connectors are now well and truly settled into their roles and have been very successful in helping and signposting patients to various organisations including DIAL for further and ongoing help. They are situated in GP surgeries across the Great Yarmouth area and you can be referred by a medical professional, within the surgeries, at any time.
We are still working hard to get funding for another gardening project to replace the Social Blooms project through The Green Light Trust which sadly came to an back in March/April. This was a very popular project and provided great support and enjoyment to our gardening volunteers. So watch this space for further updates as we get them.
Again, Volunteering opportunities are always available here at DIAL. The Charity Shop is always looking for new helpers and in the Office we have availability for assistance on reception answering the telephone, greeting Clients and visitors to the office, making appointments, etc and general reception work.
If you wish to be part of our friendly volunteering team please call Jenny for more information on 01493 856900.
